“The LORD said unto my Lord, sit thou at my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”
Psalm 110 is the most quoted Psalm in the New Testament and was used by Jesus when He argued with religious teachers proving from their scripture that He is the divine Son of God.
After His resurrection Jesus ascended “to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand” (Acts 2:33).
Soon, His enemies will be seen as they are, “His footstool.”
Soon, “Every knee shall bow” – ours willingly with glad worship; also his enemies whose stubbornness will fail them – “and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” (Romans 14:11)
Jesus used scripture as truth in His own defense and in arguing with the professors of the religion which is founded on its teaching.
This is He of whom Handel’s Messiah brings worship; this is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords – forever, and ever and ever: and this is not the extreme of Christianity; it is the root.
We worship a risen Savior. “Unto us a Son is given, unto us a Child is born.” (Isaiah 9:6)
The earth trembled at His death. Easter morning has no counterpart, no comparison to religious celebrations which some purport to have likeness with Christianity.
In coming again He will not change. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
He will put an end to the proliferation and hidden evil as He gathers those who were willing to be gathered by Him . . . by Him and only Him.
“Never a man spoke like Him.” without exception, never a man lived like Him. “Only Jesus did what only Jesus could do” (a quote from Edwin Lewis).
Exceptional! Unparalleled! Not possible to duplicate! The Son sent by the Father to rescue those who would receive Him.
“My LORD and my God” cried the most doubtful of His disciples; but whose doubts He washed away. (John 20:28)
Do not purposely forget the Christ of all history who draws on your hearts. We will meet Him one day.
